Caribbean Beach Alternative Photoshoot Part 2

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

This week we feature part 2 of our Caribbean beach alternative photo shoot, the reception.  Using our blush ruched wedding dress as inspiration (see part 1) we asked Selena Wong cakes to create this beautiful cake above and as always the Caribbean background of blue sky and sea helped to really set it off.

To compliment the blush pink and blue theme, we picked pink roses in blue vases with glasses and napkins to set off the navy blue striped table cloth. Other details can be seen below.

I hope this photoshoot has showed you that a beach wedding really doesn’t have to be a casual affair and the possibilities of how your wedding will look are indeed endless regardless of its destination.

Meeting Preston Bailey

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

Last month I had the pleasure of being in New York with the UKAWP. Our goal was simple. To learn from the best.

One of my unforgettable highlights had to be meeting event and wedding designer Preston Bailey, renowned for transforming raw ordinary spaces into elaborate theatrical creations.

Preston had been on my radar since starting my business three years ago as the man making his mark on the industy, offering something very different and niche and making it work very well. So I  was extremely honoured that he was able to give me some personal one to one time.

From the moment I walked on to his studio floor I was blown away by what I saw, from the personal welcome, to  the flowers, right down to the glass of water I was given.

And Mr Bailey didn’t disappoint either. As I couldn’t help but be inspired by this thoroughly nice guy doing what he loves and oozing the confidence of his 30 years experience which surpasses many here in the UK.

But what did I learn you may ask? Lots. But for you my readers I was told I should blog more often.

So based on Mr Bailey’s words of wisdom I have decided that instead of twice a month. I will blog once a week. (Ok Preston don’t roll your eyes. Its not everyday but I’m heading in the right direction (smile).

However I need help from you my fellow readers to make this work. Tell what you would like me to write about as I can’t do this alone and need your input? So I look forward to seeing your ideas.

In the meantime my thanks to Preston Bailey and wishing you well at this difficult time in New York.

Caribbean Rustic Wedding Photoshoot Part 2

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

I’m so excited that our whimisical rustic Caribbean shoot was featured this week on wedding blog Bridal Musings (which you can see here), as it ties in nicely with showing you part 2 of the shoot – the reception shots.

Taking advantage of the acres of fields surrounding the plantation house to showcase the reception the grand oak dining table was taken outside. Having a Caribbean wedding just wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t enjoying the great outdoors with its warm weather and beautiful surroundings.

Using items from the magnificent eighteenth century plantation house we were able to add candelabras and green bottles to our own vintage glass vases for the flowers, wicker balls and green ribbon which set of the menu whose ink was also green.

The cake fitted in perfectly with the surroundings and was totally edible.

Not forgetting that your wedding day is also suppose to be fun, we took some quirky pictures too and loved it. What do you think?

Well I hope you enjoyed our Rustic photoshoot and can take some inspiration for your destination wedding. The possibilites when you decide to marry abroad are indeed endless.

Wedding Inspiration: Caribbean Rustic Charm Photoshoot

Monday, October 8th, 2012

Whenever anyone thinks of a Caribbean wedding the first thought is always by the beach. So earlier this year I decided to plan and style a photo shoot on a plantation house in Jamaica to show how different themes besides the obvious can also work for a destination wedding.

Featured on Jet Fete the destination wedding blog from Bridal Bar here I wanted to share some more images with you and the reason for them.

Inspired by the Twilight wedding last year I decided on gypsophila or baby’s breath flowers to give this rustic shoot the country feel it needed especially surrounded by all the natural settings for the ceremony at Bellefield Plantation House.

To blend with the natural colour theme of green, cream and brown I looked to a bygone era with the bride wearing Charlotte Casadejus’s Audrey dress, with its flattering silk georgette material and vintage touches. Along with pearl earrings supplied by Luella’s Boudoir and mother of pearl heeled shoes by Freya Rose.

Dropping the usual wedding attire for the groom I opted to compliment the surroundings with an earthy coloured suit and tie.It was a lot of hard work but extremely fun and I hope these pictures inspire you to think you can have the theme you are after regardless of whether you’re having a destination wedding or not.

Watch this space for more later this month!

The Gift of Spring – Renewal of Vows

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

Well this month sees the start of Spring and more importantly Mothering Sunday. So what shall we get the most important person in our lives?

Well for the gentlemen out there why not make the day special and give the gift of renewal.

With divorces going up year on year (according to the Office of Statistics) a couple managing to stay together through thick and thin deserves a celebration, so consider these tips to take the plunge;

1. There are far less dos and don’ts about vow renewal, it can be as simple as just the couple or a large affair with hundreds of guests.

2. To be honest you don’t have to wait for a major milestone to renew your vows you can be any age and be married for any length of time to carry out this special event.

3. As the ceremony has no legal effect all you’ll need is a copy of the original marriage certificate when booking the ceremonial venue.

4. As vow renewal is not a legally binding ceremony you can have whoever you want to officiate – a clergyman, a close friend,  a relative or even your children.

5. The basic premise is to exchange vows, so if you didn’t write your own personal vows the first time round you can really take centre stage here.

6. After you exchange vows you exchange rings – so you can either engrave your original ones or purchase new ones (and I’m sure your partner will love the latter).

Tips for Leap Year Marriage Proposals

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

February is the month of love and whilst most people hate the cheesyness Valentine’s can bring it is also a a leap year – which means ladies you can now take control and show how romantic you can be with a capital R when you propose to your man on February 29th.

According to folk lore its said that Lady luck bestows special favour on any venture, business or personal if its initiated on this day. So what are you waiting for?  Here are some more tips to add to those earlier this month for you consider.

1. Choose a place that he will love rather than what you’d like. Consider attending a football game to get him in the mood.

2. However don’t bring it up if his football team has just lost, timing is everything. Wait until later in the day when you have a glass of bubbly in your hand and he’s enjoyed the experience you’ve had together.

3. If your not sure about getting down on bended knee why not give him a card with the question inside to see his reaction?

4. Think of an alternative gesture to a ring  if he’s not into jewellery.

5. The traditional penalty if a man refuses your proposal on the 29th is that he has to pay. So remind him of that very expensive pair of shoes you are after if his reaction is a little slow.

Good Luck

Reasons for a destination Wedding

Deciding on a destination wedding

Monday, January 9th, 2012

January is the month of new beginnings – so if you have recently got engaged a big congratulations!

You will soon start to look at how you will create the wedding of your dreams (if you haven’t started already) and as a destination wedding planner its only right for me to throw having a destination wedding into the mix, as it really is one to consider.

1. First up the world is your oyster; the possibilities to marrying abroad are endless. But so you don’t get overwhelmed just think of one country that you both loved whilst you were on holiday together.

2. If this thought excites you, then follow this through with some initial research to finding a good destination wedding planner. If you haven’t considered one before its well worth thinking about here as they will know the destination your thinking of well and save you a lot of time and hassle.

3. If you are after something different for your wedding the choice of stunning backdrops for a destination wedding will definitely make you stand out from your friends. Choose between an abundance of beaches, hill tops, yachts, forests, the choices really is endless.

4. If you are worried about the amount of people you will have to invite. A destination wedding really cuts your guest list down to only those who really want to come and those you actually want to be there.

5. Just give them enough time to book their flight and accommodation which is normally a year in advance or as soon as you picked your venue.

6. Finally if you are often disappointed when you hardly see the bride and groom at weddings. You won’t have to worry here, as a destination wedding is a great opportunity for you to enjoy your friends and family, as they’ll probably book at least three days to seven days holiday. So just think about all the things you could plan for your guests before and after the wedding to make their holiday and your wedding  memorable.
