Destination Weddings: Renewal of Vows

Well Easter is over and Spring is finally here, which is great as Spring is always seen as the start of new beginnings and of course sunshine.  Whilst many of you prepare to tie the knot this year for the start of your new beginning, its nice to see older relationships still being valued. Celebrity Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barrosso renewed their vows on April 13th at the Sugar Beach Resort in St Lucia. The pair were married in 2005 in a civil ceremony so didn’t have a large celebration at the time. But with their renewal they rented out the entire resort to make sure they had all their friends and love ones around them to help celebrate their union. Nice!

Destination Weddings: The Wedding Canopy

Bamboo wedding canopy

Last week I had the pleasure of exhibiting at 1 Marylebone and it just wouldn’t be right to not show the stand we created for the event.

For any wedding the ceremony décor is a real opportunity to wow your guests, so I decided to show off a real eye catching bamboo canopy (popular for destination weddings) with one of my favourite flowers gypsophila.

A structure like this really can give your guests something beautiful to focus their eyes on when you say ‘I do’, and is one of a number of structures that would be available to you for a destination wedding.

However if you are having a wedding in the UK why not look out for venues with a licensed outdoor structure or enlist the help of a good florist who will create a structure for you to have your outside wedding done by a celebrant.

Caribbean Beach Alternative Photoshoot Part 2

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

This week we feature part 2 of our Caribbean beach alternative photo shoot, the reception.  Using our blush ruched wedding dress as inspiration (see part 1) we asked Selena Wong cakes to create this beautiful cake above and as always the Caribbean background of blue sky and sea helped to really set it off.

To compliment the blush pink and blue theme, we picked pink roses in blue vases with glasses and napkins to set off the navy blue striped table cloth. Other details can be seen below.

I hope this photoshoot has showed you that a beach wedding really doesn’t have to be a casual affair and the possibilities of how your wedding will look are indeed endless regardless of its destination.

Tips for Leap Year Marriage Proposals

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

February is the month of love and whilst most people hate the cheesyness Valentine’s can bring it is also a a leap year – which means ladies you can now take control and show how romantic you can be with a capital R when you propose to your man on February 29th.

According to folk lore its said that Lady luck bestows special favour on any venture, business or personal if its initiated on this day. So what are you waiting for?  Here are some more tips to add to those earlier this month for you consider.

1. Choose a place that he will love rather than what you’d like. Consider attending a football game to get him in the mood.

2. However don’t bring it up if his football team has just lost, timing is everything. Wait until later in the day when you have a glass of bubbly in your hand and he’s enjoyed the experience you’ve had together.

3. If your not sure about getting down on bended knee why not give him a card with the question inside to see his reaction?

4. Think of an alternative gesture to a ring  if he’s not into jewellery.

5. The traditional penalty if a man refuses your proposal on the 29th is that he has to pay. So remind him of that very expensive pair of shoes you are after if his reaction is a little slow.

Good Luck

Tips for a destination wedding part 4

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

In the final part of our tips for a destination wedding – always decide on a wedding destination that you love.

And to make sure your ceremony and reception goes to plan,

Tip 1: Pick a team/wedding planner who knows the destination, which is well worth the cost in saving you time and hassle.

Tip 2: Pick venues that only have one wedding a day – as you want your day to be special

Tip 3: Once you have picked your destination and venue, get your invitations out as early as possible we suggest eight months prior to your wedding which will give guests enough time to budget for your wedding, put it in their schedule and sort out flights.

Tips for a destination wedding part 3 (Legalities)

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Well I hope you have been enjoying our tips for a destination wedding! Any questions don’t hesitate to comment but for now our focus this week is on legalities.

So when you decide that you’ll like a destination wedding its important to understand the legal requirements needed for that particular country. For example how many days do you need to be there before you can get married? Do you need to take a blood test? And what paperwork do you have to provide?

Tip: Always check with your destination’s embassy for the exact details or hire a wedding planner to sort out the details for you.
