Hiring a Wedding Planner

Why should we hire a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a distinct asset as you plan your wedding. Wouldn’t it be nice to spend time with your fiancé and family rather than worrying about the details of your special day? A planner will take care of all the hundreds of details, leaving you to enjoy your engagement and wedding day. You will be the star of the show, while your planner works behind the scenes to make your dreams come true.

Why can’t I do the planning myself?

You can do the planning yourself and that is part of the fun. But it also can be a hassle: checking out many sources for each supplier category, making sure all the details are in place and worrying about whether you’re getting the best deal and whether everything will turn out alright. A wedding planner has the training and experience to make it all come together while you relax and enjoy the romance and festivities of your wedding.

What is the difference between a venue coordinator and a wedding planner?

A venue coordinator works for the venue - that is where their loyalties lie. Their job is to answer your questions about the venue and assist you with your venue layout and decor. It isn't their job to assist you with all the many details that go into planning your big day.

As your wedding planner, our loyalty is solely to you, our client. Our job is to assess the level of services you need and do everything we can to ensure that your wedding reflects your unique style and taste.

My reception venue has a wedding coordinator; do I still need to hire a wedding planner?

Yes. A wedding coordinator is someone who clients may contact if they need extra reassurance on the actual wedding day. A wedding coordinator meets with clients, double checks details with suppliers, introduce themselves, and finally is in attendance on your wedding day to make sure that everything happens the way it's supposed to.

A wedding planner, on the other hand, is actually involved from the very beginning of the planning process. Your wedding planner will handle each detail of your wedding from start to finish - everything from finding a venue and the appropriate suppliers to actually being there on your wedding day to make sure everything runs smoothly and as planned. Having a wedding planner reduces the natural stress of planning a wedding so that you can enjoy the entire process and have complete confidence that all the details are taken care of for you.

Do I need a wedding planner even though my family and friends have offered to help?

Yes. Even though family members have good intentions, your family and friends deserve and want to enjoy the day with you rather than spending their precious time working. Your wedding planners are there to watch over all the details and make sure that your wedding day is worry and stress free. Professional wedding planners also offer a high level of service and know how to prevent disasters and make sure everything is just right.

Are wedding planners an added expense?

A wedding planner is part of your budget, and should not be considered an extra expense. In fact, you may even save money because a professional wedding planner can often suggest affordable alternatives that actually enhance your wedding. Your planner will work with you to produce your dream wedding, including the planner’s fee, all within your budget.

How far in advance should we book our wedding?

At Pierre Carr, we usually book weddings 4-6 months or even one year in advance of your wedding date. For larger weddings, we recommend 6-9 months in advance. But we will always advise that the earlier you get started the better to guarantee the venue you desire.
