This week I was all set to do a review of New York Bridal Market, the bi-annual trade event where brands showcase their new collections to buyers. However I discovered that a children’s fashion shoot I styled and art directed in August 2014 was being featured in Junior Magazine (a family lifestyle website which features glorious children’s fashion), and I couldn’t resist sharing some images and discussing my creative process with you.

Deciding to do a children’s shoot has always been a passion of mine partly because I have a little one of my own and enjoy the endless dressing up options a little one brings. But more importantly the fun, creative process you can have styling and art directing children. So when the opportunity arose to do both and work with one of my favourite children photographer’s Eddie Judd I jumped at the chance.

For me as a stylist and art director, the creative process always starts with a concept and I remember seeing this gorgeous editorial image above from Vogue Paris for their Children’s supplement issue and got inspired by the Swiss Alps backdrop and the adventurous fun of the shoot. I then set about putting together a moodboard that depicted the mood I wanted to create. 

With fun and adventure as my inspiration above it was then a case of finding a gorgeous open space that would give me the feel of the Swiss Alps even though I was based in London, England. Luckily I do not live far from the countryside in Surrey and was able to find some great locations. I decided on Box Hill featured below which is renowned for its great scenic views and history.

With location and inspiration in tow it was now about finding the right models and designers. I’m pleased to say I had four stunners (below) provided by some lovely yummy mummies who were quite prepared to loan me their children on an extremely wet August afternoon to create some of the gorgeous images below along with finding designers who were willing to provide me with their AW14 collections to feature.

If you like the outfits that the models are wearing you will find from top left to right the Alice dress from Tails and Tales, Dolce and Gabbana black wool dress and cream collar shirt from Childsplay Clothing.  On the bottom Greca jumper and shorts from La Coqueta, with the two Orion dress from Miller and pink recorder from Monsoon.

So it wouldn’t be right for me not to tell you some wonderful news! Last week my styled shoot that I told you all about back in December (see link here) was published in Style Me Pretty on Friday.  As you can imagine I was literally dancing on my roof because this for me is the most prettiest, style savvy wedding blog I know and according to the blog itself  only features ‘the most chic and style centric wedding related content.’ I am honoured! Initially featured in Condé Nast Brides Lookbook, this shoot was a real labour of love and I have to thank all the talented folk who helped to make my vision possible. So with the Christmas holidays fast approaching I can just about squeeze in the last part of this gorgeous bridal shoot I styled.  Looking at the ceremony this week I decided to use another dress from Amsale Bridal this time Harbor along with a dinner suit from Stephen Bishop Suiting. The scene moved to the famous Gothic Temple at Painshill Park and we were able to create the sophisticated look with a bespoke Partumis Metal Arch and flowers by the talented  White Orchid.

This post is about the munchkins I decided to use for this shoot. Why children? Well for one, they are the cutest things on the planet and for two they fundamentally make a wedding. Yes its the couple’s day but its also about making the day fun for the children as well as the adults. I know once the kids have been let loose from the shackles of wedding formality they will be having just as much fun if not more than the adults and that is what I wanted to capture. Just take a look at the images, priceless!

With custom made sashes, bow tie and cumberband from the lovely Little Bevan along with outfits and shoes the children had a great time discovering Painshill Park. My thanks to Isabella, Poppy, Minnie and Callum for making the day very fun and memorable. I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep this quiet for so long, but I’m super excited to now announce that my August photoshoot has been published in Conde Nast Brides this month (yippee).

Inspiration behind the shoot was moving away from vintage (finally) and showing how you really can have a beautiful garden wedding that is just as sophisticated as it would be inside.

Using one of Pantone’s colours of 2013, grayed jade along with ivory and gold I set about finding a UK space that would offer the sophisticated rivera look that I was after. Painshill Park which is based in Surrey, England fitted the bill perfectly.

With my main focus on the beauty of the outdoors I really wanted to use the succulent plant that you can find outdoors as my main floral theme, and this was included and handmade on the gorgeous cake and mini cakes. Whilst the colour grayed jade was the focus for the dessert bar instead of just sweets.
