<p>Do you exercise?</p>
<p>I have been exercising for years. But about a year ago a good friend of mine gave me a <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://youtu.be/JNys7k4MkhI" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> seven day challenge to walk 5k every day for 7 days</a> </span></strong>and I have never looked back.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s funny though, I really hated it in the beginning. My thoughts were why would I walk when its quicker for me to run and get home lol. Now, whilst I still love to run, I spend more time walking with purpose every day for an hour, to set myself up for the day and because there are so many benefits to walking especially a fasted walk, I have now made it part of<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.pierrecarr.com/styledbypierrecarr/">my styling business</a></strong></span> &#8211; which is all about helping career mums who are struggling to get back into shape, get the body they want and wear the clothes they love.</p>
<p>As a former GB international athlete and having children, I know what it&#8217;s like to on one hand have a body at its very best and then on the other hand &#8211; not and if I&#8217;m honest it has been a struggle to get my body back where it needs to be, not because I haven&#8217;t wanted to. But having children really does takes its toll and not everyone snaps back especially older mums, which is why I&#8217;ve made it my mission to not only help women look their best but by using all the wealth of knowledge I have, along with a group of former athletes called &#8216;The Family&#8217; to go deeper and really help to change lifestyle habits through exercise and nutrition.</p>
<p>Now many people believe that you have to go to the gym or pay a personal trainer to help you get back in shape. But the simple truth is by simply walking and having a mind to walk purposefully there are a whole host of benefits. But in the meantime here are some of the benefits of fasted walking that you might not know about.</p>
<p>Fasting,  essentially without food in our stomachs enables our counter-regulatory hormones to kick in to save the day and provide your body with all the energy you need. Today, many people adopt the mentality of having to eat frequently throughout the day. But metabolically speaking, less is more. Once you realise that both walking and fasting are deeply innate to us, you can utilise them to make yourself healthier. It’s a simplistic approach to improving your well-being that genuinely works.</p>
<p>Here are some main benefits for fasted walking;</p>

<li><strong>Fat Burning</strong> &#8211; Utilising free fatty acids on an empty stomach is great for eating belly fat. You will use your body fat to burn rather than the food you just consumed.</li>
<li><strong>Mental Clarity</strong> &#8211;  Ketones (induced by fasting) are a cleaner energy system that can reduce brain fog and enhance senses.</li>
<li><strong>Decreases Stress</strong> &#8211; Walking outdoors provides you with Vitamin D, which is a primary hormone/micronutrient in helping lower blood pressure. Also, anything ambulatory lowers the stress hormone cortisol. Endorphins that are secreted instantly change your mood and outlook on life.</li>
<li><strong>Improves Sleep</strong> &#8211; The more active you are during the day, the better your sleep will be in most cases. The calming effect of walking and the power of the sun get your circadian rhythm in sync with the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. If you just get up and go out for a brisk walk every morning while the sun is up, you&#8217;ll notice that your sleep will be a lot more deep later that night.</li>
<li><strong>Anti inflammatory &#8211; </strong> Walking as little as 20 minutes can reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines. A steady reduction in inflammation can lower your risk of developing major chronic diseases.</li>

<p>Hello lovelies,</p>
<p>Over the past few months I have realised that so many of us want to look good, but don&#8217;t really know how to go about it the right way. The usual routine is that everyone binges over Christmas because it&#8217;s the new year and in their mind they&#8217;ll be treating themselves to a gym membership in January.</p>
<p>When the new year starts however, they head to the gym every day for the first two weeks and then falls off the grid (with a big plop) !!</p>
<p>Why? Simply put, it didn&#8217;t fit in their current lifestyle and the effort to look good was an expectation set way to high, way too early. Who can relate to that?</p>
<p>Now step in Covid and lockdown and what do you have?  A pile of Christmas food round your middle but no way of getting rid of it. Some people have got smart and signed up to some online personal fitness instructors to part with their money. But my question here is, do you know their credentials? Are they someone who understands your body? Understands the nutrition you may need or not need for your age etc?</p>
<p>I think its easy to be suckered in by all the bells and whistles of a great social media ad, but when you scratch the service how long have they actually been doing their craft for and do they have the experience to help you when you don&#8217;t quite meet their goal of losing weight or toning up in x amount of time?</p>
<p>Others meanwhile, have just used lockdown as an excuse to vegetate especially if they are strapped to a laptop and working from home.</p>
<p>Neither of those are great, that it is why I have finally decided it was time to stop hiding from my previous career and help you and others out there not only with my styling, but to get you fit and confident with your body. You must be thinking what are you talking about, aren&#8217;t you just a fashion and personal stylist?</p>
<p>Well actually NO!!</p>
<p>In a previous chapter of my life, I use to represent my country Great Britain in track and field and as an elite athlete I know exactly what it takes to get your body right and more importantly what foods to take and ones to avoid. Ok so before you rush to watch the video above which goes into detail. I know that not everyone wants to be a finely tuned engine. But either way the same applies.</p>

<p>The knowledge I have is invaluable and that is why I have decided to team up with former team mates to offer my clients the opportunity to get fit and stylish once and for all. Whilst I focus on getting your style right by understanding your body and what works for you, the team runs 21 day challenges that you can join to get you fit and your mindset right. There is so much to choose from including yoga sessions, hiit and weight workouts as well as education and nutrition sessions. <p>While we have been in lockdown, there&#8217;s been a lot of  buzz around loungewear and believe me there are some really cool pieces. However can I be clear loungewear is not fitness gear. Firstly, loungewear is never something you&#8217;d work out in as they nearly always come in expensive fabrics such as cashmere or wool and secondly sportswear have way more fabric technology.
