Episode 11: All that Glitters – Traditional Jewellery

Blog

December is the month of giving and with Christmas literally round the corner what better topic to discuss this month than jewellery, especially when men also use this holiday time as a great opportunity to propose to their loved ones – making the decision to buy an engagement ring of paramount importance.

So what are the choices?

Traditionally it was the man who picked the ring but these days most modern women like a say and so the couple end up taking the trip together to make the final choice. But what happens if you just can’t find what you are looking for or want something slightly different?

In this month’s Butterfly Journal: An Inspiring Wedding guide I speak to jeweller David Law from Your Personal Jeweller who with his 30 years of experience has gone from having a Hatton Garden shop to creating a more personal service for his customers by using a 3d design service enabling him to visit clients and for them to choose exactly what they want.

David is quick to point out in our interview that whilst the 3d design service has been around for a while what is ground breaking is the fact that he is taking it directly to his customers (which means they get involved with the whole process from the design right through to the finished product) compared to previously where it was solely done behind the scenes.

To hear in detail about this new jewellery design experience from David, head to the Butterfly Journal podcast at www.pierrecarr.com/podcast.

In the meantime, I would love to know all about your jewellery experiences. What jewellery do you love? Are you into diamonds or gemstones? And how easy or hard has been to find your ideal engagement/wedding ring?

In addition January marks a year since I have started the blog and podcast and I would love to get your feedback on how you have found them. Which topics did you find useful and why so I can make 2011 even better?

Our next blog and podcast out on the 15th December sees me talking to international jewellery designer Kirsten Goss whose focus is on contemporary bridal necklaces, hairbands, bracelets and earrings.

I look forward to reading your comments but until then Happy Planning!
