This week, designers and stars turned out for the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards – an annual event recognising design excellence in womenswear, menswear and accessories amongst others. Joseph Altuzarra (pictured above) picked up the prestigious womenswear design award for his brand well known for being fiercely feminine but with a masculine edge. I showcased some of his work in the post on New York Fashion Week back in February this year.
On the red carpet metallic dresses and plunging necklines were a popular trend for the night with Naomi Campbell dazzling in a Diane Von Furstenberg gun metal embellished slip dress and Solange Knowles shimmering in a custom made Calvin Klein gown.
Actress Blake Lively and Model Karen Elson opted for shorter glitter dresses by
Michael Kors. Whilst Rihanna stood out for not only receiving the Fashion icon award for her style making a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage.
But also for her custom made fishnet dress, gloves and headscarf by Adam Selman which was embellished with over 216,000 Swarovski crystals.
