The man who made me first fall in love with red carpet fashion, designer Oscar de la Renta died earlier this week following a long battle with cancer. Oscar well known for his close relationships with the the world’s most powerful women as well as designing gorgeous dresses for countless red carpet events, balls and charity circuits passed away at his home in Connecticut surrounded by his family.
One of his last designs was the wedding dress for Amal Clooney nee Alamuddin featured above which showcased a sweeping train, hand-embroidered pearls, and diamanté accents. But not to upset all those fashionable brides, last week at New York bridal market Oscar revealed a similar dress as part of his bridal fall 2015 collection featured below.
Whilst this dress is not exactly like what Mrs Clooney wore during the couple’s ceremony, the design features the same off-the-shoulder silhouette and a similar lace overlay, with the only notable difference being the length of the gown’s train.
With the price and availability date of the dress yet-to-be-announced, I know this gown will be snapped up by brides looking for something romantic and to get more inspiration take a look at the rest of Oscar’s Fall 2015 bridal collection below.
To view the rest of Oscar’s bridal collections which are currently available head to his main site here. But for those of you who love his ready to wear styles some of which I featured in my New York Fashion Week post (which you can see here), head to The Outnet and Farfetch for those must have pieces.
