Some of music’s biggest stars turned out this week for the 2014 American Music Awards in LA and as always the red carpet looks were on my radar to bring you some great inspiration styles for those special events you have over the Christmas holidays. Fashion at these awards were all about plunging neck lines, thigh splits and crop tops. Forty-one year old actress Kate Bekinsale featured above (who was there to introduce One direction for a live performance) stood out for me with this stunning white Kaufmanfranco gown with its plunging neckline and side cut outs. Sticking with white,  but paying homage to colour block dresses Orange is the New Black actress Taylor Schilling (featured left) wore a Vionnet Resort 2015 black and white one-shoulder dress featuring intriguing asymmetrical cuts including a peplum detail. News host Giuliana Rancic chose to wear a blue gown splashed with black snakeskin detail and a hint of white, also featuring a thigh high slit by Australian designer Alex Perry. The Little Black dress always a staple for any special event was nicely featured by Glee actress Dianna Argon (on the left) wearing a black tea length cocktail off the shoulder dress by Marchesa Fall 2014. See more styles here. While songstress Fergie who also wore a high slit  this time in Halston Heritage gown from the Spring 2015 collection that featured metallic accent plates at the neck and waist. Sequins and metallics are the rage this Christmas and the Newsroom actress Olivia Munn left worked the metallic trend in a Lanvin gold-draped lamé Resort 2015 gown, again with its plunge neckline and high front slit. Finally if you love colour like I do, it wouldn’t have been right to not feature the stars who said it loud and proud on the night. On the left Dancing With the Stars judge Julianne Hough rocked a coral Zuhair Murad Resort 2015 side-slit gown which featured an illusion, stained-glass-inspired neckline with pink cutouts that was echoed in the back. On the right Taylor Swift who receivd the Dick Clark Award of Excellence on the night  donned an emerald Michael Kors custom gown which featured an illusion yoke and cut-out at the waist.
